If you have no Internet after inserting the SIM card or activating your eSIM on your Android phone or iPhone, entering the APN (Access Point Name) settings of your carrier or mobile network operator (MNO) on your Android phone or iPhone can resolve the problem.
Follow the steps below to access wireless APN settings for Android phones like Samsung, Google, Sharp, or Sony.
Reset your Android Network Settings
Some phones or carriers can set up your network automatically by resetting the network settings. This way, you don’t need to enter the APN settings yourself. 👉 To do this, reset the network settings on your Android.
- On your phone, tap Settings

- Tap Connections (On some phones such as Google Pixel, tap Network & Internet)

- Tap Mobile Networks

- Tap Access Point Names (On some phones such as Google Pixel, tap Advanced first)

- Tap Add

- Enter the details from your carrier into the “Name” and “APN” fields. 👉 You can find your carrier’s APN field in the “Common Country Mobile Network Operators’ APN Settings” section. “Name” is just a placeholder. Any name can be used, typically the carrier’s name. The “APN” field is important. It is the APN name. Don’t worry about capital or small letters. For instance,
fast.t-mobile.comis the same asfast.T-mobile.com.
- Tap the three dots menu
in the upper right of the screen and select Save.
- The data icon for your carrier’s network (5G, LTE, 4G, or 3G) should appear in the status bar. If it doesn’t, you may have to change the APN settings for your carrier.

- A simple way to test your Android’s data connection is to turn off Wi-Fi and visit a website.
Ensure you have a cell signal first. You can check this by looking at the cell signal status icon
at the top of your iPhone or iPad + cellular status bar. Then, follow these steps to set up the APN on your iPhone.
Reset your iPhone Network Settings
Some phones or carriers can set up your network automatically by resetting the network settings. This way, you don’t need to enter the APN settings yourself. 👉 To do this, reset the network settings on your iPhone.
- Go to Settings, tap either Cellular or Mobile Data

- Tap the number on the SIM or eSIM you want to set up the APN for

- Tap Cellular Data Network

- Enter the details from your carrier in the “APN” fields. 👉 You can find your carrier’s information details in the section here. The username and password fields are typically blank.
You don’t need to worry about uppercase or lowercase letters. For example,fast.t-mobile.comis the same asfast.T-mobile.com
- The settings should save automatically. Your carrier’s 5G, LTE, 4G, or 3G network indicator status icon should appear at the status bar. If not, you need a different APN setting for your carrier.

- A simple way to test your iPhone’s data connection is to turn off Wi-Fi and visit a website.

- Access Point Name (APN) stands for Access Point Name.
- It is the gateway between the mobile network and the Internet.
- Whenever a smartphone or mobile device uses mobile data, the mobile network operator (MNO) reads the APN to assign an IP address to the device and determines the access method and how the device will access the network.
- In other words, the SIM card is a pass, and the APN is the gateway. The pass must be paired with the correct gateway to be effective and connected to the network.
- When you insert a SIM card, the Access Point name settings are usually configured automatically with the carrier because the APN is already built-in from the smartphones sold locally by the local mobile network operators.
- If the default settings don’t work, you should set up the APN manually.
- Some of our Ola Tech phones are from Japan. If you use a SIM card from another country, you may have to set the APN manually.
- This means that your mobile does not have an APN configured.
- Reset your Android Network Settings may repopulate your network automatically 👉 To do this, reset the network settings on your Android.
- APN names are not case-sensitive.
- From ETSI TS 123 003 V16.3.0 (2020-20) – the most recent version of the technical specification paragraph below shows that the case of alphabetic characters is insignificant.
The encoding of the W-APN shall follow the Name Syntax defined in IETF RFC 2181 [18], IETF RFC 1035 [19] and IETF RFC 1123 [20]. The W-APN consists of one or more labels. Each label is coded as a one octet length field followed by that number of octets coded as 8 bit ASCII characters. Following IETF RFC 1035 [19] the labels shall consist only of the alphabetic characters (A-Z and a-z), digits (0-9) and the hyphen (-). Following IETF RFC 1123 [20], the label shall begin and end with either an alphabetic character or a digit. The case of alphabetic characters is not significant. The W-APN is not terminated by a length byte of zero.
